6 zero waste people to follow on Instagram

When I first went on Instagram I saw tons of aesthetically pleasing pictures. But the closer I looked I saw that there was a lot of plastic being used to make it look good. They were on vacation and they had a fun drink. The drink was in a single use plastic cup and had some umbrellas and a straw. The picture will last forever but so will the straw. Was it worth the likes and the views? Here are 6 people to follow if you want inspiration to be more eco-friendly.

1. @trashisfortossers
Lauren Singer is a young zero waster that has helped start the movement. She owns the Package Free shop in New York and also gives talks there occasionally! I can’t say enough good about her. The way that she describes zero waste is so bright and amazing. Follow her and see beautiful pictures of her life and shop! She is a great example of you don’t have to change everything to be zero waste you just have to modify.

3. Follow your nearest zero waste shop!
Type in the city that you live in and then add zero waste to the end,  you may have found your city’s eco account! If this is not an account and you know people that would be interested in starting a group, get the name of your city and then zero waste and start posting meetups! This is a great way to get social interaction on something that you feel strongly about. Not only does everybody learn but you/them don't feel like they are the only one in the area that are trying to be environmentally friendly.

4. @easyecotips
This page posts almost everyday on more environmentally friendly swaps and facts! I spent almost an hour on this page when I first started zero waste. I felt that after looking at 5 zero waste Instagram accounts that they all had the same suggestions but formatted differently. I was spending hours looking at how to be better at zero waste and just getting the same tips over and over. When I go on @easyecotips, I know that I will find something new that will help me get better.

5. @zerowastehome
If you don’t already follow her let me tell you about her. Bea Johnson is the queen of zero waste the one who started this whole amazing movement. She wrote the book zero waste home, which is a great book to learn how to turn almost your whole household into a plastic free area. Get the Kindle version to save the trees buy (by) just by clicking this link: zero waste home book. Right now she is RVing across the US and giving zero waste talks. How she has raised her 2 boys and converted her family's mindset to be more eco-friendly is amazing. If you want to watch her effortlessly go grocery shopping zero waste, check this out.

6. @zero.waste.sofia
Sofia is a 16 year old in Hong Kong who has been on her zero waste journey for a while and is getting better everyday. Not only is she fun but she is the most real person ever. Since she is still growing her account, her content is better than most verified zero waste influencers. Not only is her content relatable but it is in the eye of a teenager (So I get what she is going through). I find that there are very few teenagers that are trying to be zero waste and she is a great example for others.

I find these people (actually all females) to be very informative. If you haven’t heard of any of them, I encourage you to check them out!
