Writing
Thinking of something that you connect with, enjoy and being able to correlate it into words. Writing. Some people think they are bad at it and some people think the exact opposite. Writing can be someone's worst nightmare or a blessing that you only realize after you stop doing it. Creating something is like nothing else and if  posted and pasted somewhere else, no one can destroy it. Everything I write starts with nothing just an idea. That blank sheet of electronic paper with Untitled Document at the top left corner. So many possibilities but at times I can’t think of any. At other times I come to a device at crazy hours of the night just to write something I think is interesting.

How I would describe writing is a way that you can write down your thoughts but filter it. You don’t have any misspelled words when it is seen by the public. So it’s how you think but perfected. Music is like writing and is one of the many steps to making a song. As my dad pointed out to me one day, writing is part of any job. I was determined to find a job that did include writing. How it came up was because I was so sick of writing. I realized a couple weeks later that I needed writing and writing was willing to help me. I wouldn’t say that I depend on writing as a way that I will survive, but a part of it. If I become a writer and I can live off it, then it becomes a way for me to survive, full time. I would like to have other “side jobs” so if I didn't get any inspiration one day I would be able to pay for food and rent. In so many movies and in real life, kids dread writing essays. They are supposed to be a certain length and about a certain thing. For me, I only have to follow one of those rules. I can write about ANYTHING I want but it has to be 500 words or over. The thing about 500 words is it’s the perfect amount. If you want to explain something and you want people to have their full attention for it, try to slim it down to 500 words. If it’s more and you really think you need a specific piece of information or you have 200 words and the article is perfect, keep it that way. As long as you think it gets your point across. You want them to take it all in.

If I was a creative writing teacher, I would tell them to write about anything they wanted but try to make it 500 words. This makes the student think about a subject that they resonate with and write about how interesting they think it is rather that forcing them to write a specific amount about a specific thing.
You are limiting them and not unlocking all their abilities.

Who knows, I might become a creative writing teacher in the future! Today I leave you with these quotes:
“The first draft is just you telling yourself the story.”
― Terry Pratchett
“You can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank page.”
― Jodi Picoult
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
― Maya Angelou
