High fives and fist bumps
Do you remember when you were a kid or maybe you still are at heart ,and you were playing or in the classrooms and a way to communicate joy with your classmates was giving them a high five?

Or maybe you are an adult and you still do it occasionally. But what is the adult version of the high five. Why is it considered childish? After that remark you may be thinking. Wait, high fives are childish? Yes, they are considered childish but that doesn't mean they are. I was thinking and when you are giving high fives when you are a kid you have all your emotions out like a book. You have tantrums when you're mad or don't get your way. You are not all closed up and hiding your anxiety or insecureness, you are just enjoying life.

Now as an adult you don't express your insecureness emotion you try to make it seem that you are happy. The saying "fake it till you make" does not apply to this. As a child you weren't faking (unless you faked crying to get a cookie...) it you were being real. As an adult you are supposed to be more "adulty", (Google is telling me this is not a word but why isn't it!!!!?) more tame. But when you are an adult you take on all these responsibilities that you didn't have back when you were a young lad or lass. Every adult has them but they all handle them differently and when they can't handle them, well they move back in with their parents. You were a child and you weren't faking it and now you are an adult and you are... Did you just reverse it? Should the saying now be "You had "it" and now you need to get "it" back"? My favorite thing about using the word "it" is because it can cover so may things or in this case emotions. How do you get it back? I only thought this would be about a high five and the adult version of the high five is the fist bump. Think about it like this. We talked about the high five could be considered childish and full of emotion. Where as the fist bump you are closing all your emotions but trying to be friendly.

Try to think of all the times that you have given someone a fist bump. The way that I think of a fist bump happening is at a bar. 2 guys are getting together or they haven't seen each other in a while so they greet each other with a fist bump. It's a nice way to say more than hi but not a man hug. Now this is what my brain is like. Not a man hug but how I go from one subject and just go deeper and deeper into something. The next time you want to express joy give a high five or a hug!
