Living a life as a carnivore has been pretty nice. I can eat almost whatever I want. But if I want to be more aware of how that is affecting me and the planet would try to eat less meat. Now I am aware and I try to eat much less meat. The problem is that I have eaten it for so long and it’s in some of my favorite dishes. What I am currently trying to do is to find things that can be my new favorite dishes but do not contain meat. If you have eaten meat your whole life and you want to change. Keep reading…
A good way to find out how to subtract meat from your diet is to look at what you eat in a day or look in your fridge. What kind of frozen food do you have and what is the most food that you have in 3 of the 8 categories: Poultry, Fish, Grains, Eggs, Fruit, Veggies, Dairy or Cheese? I have a lot of eggs, cheese, grains and avocados. Avocados have a lot of fat but it's a good fat!

We slowly transitioned over to fish and I became a Pescatiarian for weeks on and off. I feel that in America it is harder to find meatless options because it's how almost everyone lives. It can be a great source of protein and cheap. I am doing another top ten (yay) on the recipes I think are awesome and vegetarian!
1. Cucumber and hummus!
I could not stop eating this when I tasted this. It is a great snack or can be a ¼ of your meal
2. Papaya and milk
You can cut the Papaya in half, cut it into cubes, put it in a bowl, pour some milk over it and you have amazingness! I have this in the morning and it is very refreshing.
3.Apples and almond butter
Last snack and then we get into meals! I have actually had this for many meals meals though… At Trader Joes they have Raw almond butter (the creamy version) with no salt. I could eat this stuff all day. I was eating it so much that I would go through a pound of almond butter in a week and a half! This is great if you want a high fat and protein snack.
4. Gardein Chick’n nuggets
You can fry these up and have them with soy sauce, mayo and ketchup. If you glaze them with BBQ sauce they taste like chicken wings! I have also put them cut up in salads and tacos.

5. Buratta, Bread, Tomatoes and Basil
No this is not a caprese salad! This what they have in Italy all the time. I love this dish because it has so many flavors and it is so simple.
6. Pesto anything
If you mix up some garlic, pine nuts, basil and olive oil you can put it on anything, even . Ok so I haven’t tried putting it on ice cream but I bet it would taste good! I love this on pasta, sandwiches, eggs, etc! Almost anything savory goes with pesto.
7. Tacos!
Tacos can be a great way to experiment with all sorts of fun salsas! My favorite salsa is one with corn, cilantro, chunks of avocado and lime. You can use chickpeas for the “meat", refried beans or fried tofu

8. Have breakfast more often
For some reason I am always in the mood for eggs. I have scrambled eggs with french fries, broccoli, avocado, mushrooms, onions. Anything savory I put in them. This can be a great dish to have when you went to clean out your fridge. Have some kitchen sink eggs! (Pretty much whatever vegetable you have on the counter or fridge). If you feel like the eggs need something else just add some cheese, butter or sour cream.
