Make-up
What an un-experienced girl or guy goes through when they want to have a fancier make-up look for a party but they have a pretty simple everyday make-up routine. Do you wear make-up? It doesn't matter if you or a guy or a girl you can wear make-up! But it all depends on why you wear it.
Do you wear it to cover up your little imperfection like the 3rd pimple you popped when you were 13 that you popped incorrectly and you now have a scar? Or do you do it to express yourself? Do you want to look a little bit more feminine or show your artistic side? These are the reasons people wear make-up. I love make-up but I don't wear it partly because I'm 13 and the big part, I have no idea how to apply it and actually make myself look better with it. My Mom doesn't wear a ton of make-up and the make-up that she does is lipstick, mascara, eyebrow stuff and sometimes eyeshadow in a couple of swipes.
I know that a lot of girls spend an hour every day on their make-up to make their skin look like porcelain. Then when you have extra time and you are in the mood to do a little extra in your make-up routine or you are going to a party you go on youtube and type in a make-up tutorial. You find one that is super colorful but sophisticated and the video is only 7 minutes long! You think okay I can do this! You click on the video and the Youtuber starts off with their welcome to all their subscribers and then they start the tutorial...
He or she starts applying make-up super fast and holds up the products and you try to pause it but it's already gone. Then you realize it's a time lapse video and they did it in 1.75 speed because it took them so long to do the look. Then you go back to the Youtube search thingie and type in "quick makeup looks" or something of that sort and get a bunch of everyday makeup tutorial. And you think "NO, I need a fast make-up tutorial that is sophisticated and doesn't look like my everyday one!". You eventually decide on one that is a little bit fancier than your daily one and start. When she or he shows you the first 5 products you realize that you don't have a lot of make-up and you just try to wing it with the products that you do have. The final make-up look is something that is not what the thumbnail looked like on Youtube because you don't have the same colors and you couldn't go to a make-up store because of the party that is in an hour!
You think that you need to work on your cat eye and get a concealer and some other stuff to cover up all the pimples and little blemishes that you have but the Youtuber doesn't. It's okay not to be perfect at doing make-up you just need to be okay with being you and the people that you go to parties with be okay with that too.
