Phoenix day 1
On Tuesday night I packed and packed for Phoenix!
Why did I not pack sooner? If I would've packed on Friday I wouldn't have had any pants or shirts to wear on Tuesday or Wednesday. It's sad but true I have about 1 week of t-shirts and 5 days worth of pants. Anyway, I packed and fit 4 days of clothes into a medium sized duffle after watching 3 packing videos! Then I packed a bunch of snacks and made sure that all the liquids that I would be taking were 3 ounces or less. The next day at 8:30 am my mom and I set off on our journey to the airport! We stopped when we were about 10 minutes away from it and went to my mom's friends house to leave our car there for several days. While my mom and her friend talked like valley girls and got caught up with what was going on in their life that they couldn't talk about on Facebook, I played car bingo! I was one away from getting a bingo when we pulled up at our gate and we said our goodbyes and headed towards a bench to eat! I had 2 oranges and my mom watched me awkwardly while I did.
Have you ever had your mom (dads don't do this thankfully) stare at you trying not to say "Come on let's go!" or "Stop eating so slowly we need to get a move on!". That's what she was doing with her eyes while I was eating my oranges which is almost worse than her saying something. We went through security. The securities at airports I usually go to you have to take off your shoes, take out any electronics you might have in your bag and it's really stressing. This security you didn't have to take off your shoes and I just had to put my bag on the conveyor belt and walk through the metal detector. Then my mom and I headed to Peet's coffee, she got a (you guessed it) coffee and a scone thingy. We got on the plane, got complimentary stale mini pretzels and 2 hours later we got off the plane. We got on the shuttle bus to pick up our rental car, sadly we did not get a Corvette but we were offered a black Mustang several times. When we finally found our car (which was the last one in the lot) we headed to our Airbnb and went to dinner. Dinner was amazing! We went to the Old Tortilla Factory which makes homemade tortillas. When we walked in there was a lady running the tortilla dough through the flattener and putting them on the stove. Read my Tortilla Factory blog post to read about what we ate, what the butter and tortilla of the day was and what the most amazing sauce in the world is!
