so, you want to start a business?

Do you have an idea? If you are young or old you can start a business. No matter what disabilitates you, you will find a way. A great way to start a business quick is to go to a farmers market. Instead of searching for your clients, they come to you. A farmers market is where families go and get to spend quality time together on the weekend. So you can make their experience more memorable with your product or service. The great thing is that most families (where I was at in Napa, California) don’t focus on the price they focus on how much the product or service will get them. Even if you don’t sell anything the learning experience is amazing! It forces you to think of everything possible for your business.

There were 2 times where I did not get ANY clients and that made me really sad. Not only did I pay $32 per farmers market but I wasted my moms time. We spent 16 hours setting up being there ad backing up, for both (8 hour days).

If you are not making money and you have your parents taking care of you it's not as much of a big deal. But if you're on your own and you are selling something and it's not doing very well then you have nobody to back you up and you start something else or you do everything you can to keep your business afloat. Wow, I sound like a business mentor! Speaking of mentors. Having my Mom and dad have the experience of running their own business gave me the extra boost. But if your parents work a 9-5 or whatever situation you might be in their is always people willing to help you get better. You may know people that run a successful business that they started. If you do, why not ask them if they would be willing to share some of the things that they have learned.

If you are going into the same business that they are in they may not be as keen to help you because you could be a competitor and put them out of business. I remember being super nervous because I was doing exactly what I just said *wrote. At the farmers market there is a lady who has a cookie business. Annie the Baker. She makes the BEST cookies. She sells them for $3 each and $5 for 2. They are pretty big though. About the size of a golf ball flattened a little bit. People keep on buying them though because they are so good! Now that’s a market. Once someone samples your product and they love it because there is nothing else like it out there, they will most likely purchase more. So I was thinking of starting a business where you have a cookie but your dog or cat gets one as well. They would have the same name and similar ingredients. You would be able to share your treat with your dog, etc! One day I asked her about starting a cookie business up and she gave me SO much information! The reason why she did this is because even if I had a cookie business hers would be better. Not in that way, let me rephrase that. It would be different. Different cookies and a different concept. It really depends on what the person is like. You will just have to go with your gut and what's the worst thing they can say? No I won’t give you tips? Then you can just find something else!
