3 Weird Vegan Foods

I have been trying to eat more plant based and that comes with a lot of food to give up. But it also unlocks so many new weird ingredients to use for substitutes! This includes trying to make mock meats! Here are 3 very weird vegan foods...

1. Banana Peel Pulled Pork
I talked briefly about this in another blog post and actually made it. It was very good but it didn't quite taste like pulled pork. If you want to make this recipe you have to make sure you wash the bananas and take a spoon and scrape the inside tannin part out. If you are allergic to latex you cannot eat this, or should I say you have an excuse not to eat it. However it is packed with great vitamins and makes a pretty fast mock meat for something that you usually throw away! You can find the recipe here and the video where Merle makes it here.

2. Watermelon Rind Curry
I saw a recipe for this but veganized it and it was pretty good! I brined the watermelon in soy sauce and brown sugar and then stir fried it with a bunch of vegetables. Here is the recipe that I based it from and here's what I made (the picture down below). The rind was very meaty and it absorbs flavors very well. But I would boil it first so it's not as chewy.

3. Morning Star Bacon
I wanted a BLT so bad and when I saw this at the grocery store, I was so happy! I cooked it up and put maple syrup on it. Placed it in a BLT and it was very weird. This has egg whites in it so it's not vegan but it doesn't contain meat. I would recommend it with lots of things in it but not where it's the star. Such as a quiche, on top of pizza or a casserole.

Ok here are the 3 weird vegan foods (and yes I know one wasn't vegan), I hoped you liked it and when I come across more weird vegan food I'll post about it again.
