Do you really need a Grandma?
I did not grow up with a Grandma. All the people that I grew up with did. I always felt like I had to have one and that they had a stronger family connection than me. On my Moms side her parents died before I was born. On my Dads side they were all in Michigan so I couldn't really visit them and they never visited me. And then they died in 2016 and 2017 but I did get to spend a little bit of time with my Grandpa when he was in hospice.
When I think of a Grandma I think of freedom and cookies. You can be yourself around your Grandma and she gives warm hugs. You stay at her house and you have the best time. She's similar to your mom or dad but cooks better. She shows you cute photos of your parent and tells you the naughty things that they did. You become closer to your mom or dad through talking with your Grandma. Does it get any better than that?

Those of you that have had Grandma's do you feel a closer connection to family? Did you feel like your Grandma was a safe person to talk to about your troubles? This is what I really wanted from a Grandma. Like a third person to share things with that you might not be ready to tell your parents. Your Grandma challenges you to think what you want to in the future.
I've pretty much created my own Grandma. I've watched movies, TV shows and heard from other peoples experiences.
My dad best friends mom is my adopted Grandma. I adopted her when I was about 9 and she has been with me ever since. I've done pretty much all the things listed above with her and I'm her only Grand daughter, she has a Grandson but he's in college. We lived happily ever after, the end.
