Try new things

Try new things, it's fun. That's it.

Ok so not all the time is it fun to try new things or to just wake up everyday and do what you do. Why not try something new, who knows what could happen? Yes it could be bad but it could also be the start of something new.

You could find a new group of friends or find your new hobby! We always worry that we'll be rejected and that's not the worst thing that can happen. Better things can and most of the time will. If it's auditioning for the drama club or eating a new food. That's a start and a big leap to trying more new things. Once you start you can't stop, your fear will melt away! But I know it's not easy to start, so here are some things that have helped me.

1. You have to feel confident
It doesn't matter what your wearing as long as you feel confident, what you are wearing is confidece not your heart on your sleeve. If you don't have the newest clothes and you want to be part of the "cool" group all you need is confidence, which is more than they'll ever have. It may seem like they are confident and that you could never be as confident as them. But they go through the same things as you. They feel insecure but are great at hiding it and try to release their insecureness onto others to make themselves feel better. It's a horrible trait to have and it works for some, but tears down others. Whatever you do, do not hurt other people emotionally or physically. For now fake being confident, if you do not already.

2. How to become confident
You need to feel good about yourself. Why don't you right now? Is it your body shape or where you live? So many people come from "bad neighborhoods" and they think that they won't be good enough. It's coming from neighborhoods where you don't feel like you fit in gives you more perspective. So, to build up your confidence you have to confide in yourself. Why don't you feel confident? Clothes can help you feel confident and people might think you are but it's 95% about  what you think of yourself.

3. Being accepted
Once you have accepted yourself; which can take a very long time or a couple minutes (it totally depends on the person) you might be let into the cool group or you might have the guts to volunteer for things and try new ones. You will feel on top of the world! Things get better when you get better. Why? Because your mindset is better and doesn't take things so hard as the old you.

4. Realizing that you don't want to be part of that group
Being a part of the popular group doesn't make you special, doesn't do any of the things that you though it would. Your real friends may not like the group you have joined and the person you have become from it. It's hard when the friends you were closer to don't understand why you're doing this. Know that they just want the best for you. If you like the person that you have become that's great, as long as you're happy. Just think of who will really be your friends in the end. Who will you hang out with when your in your 30's. Who understands you? Sometimes what you want doesn't turn out to be the best after all...
