What to eat when you want to eat meat!
No you're either thinking of becoming a vegetarian or a vegan or your doctor told you to cut back on red meat. Here are five things that I eat when I want to eat meat...
1. Apples and peanut butter
It may sound weird as suppressing a craving for meat but you learn to love vegetables and want to taste them instead of meat . after the first 1 1/2 months. This can be done with any apple and any nut butter. cashew, almond, but peanut butter is the cheapest!
2. Tofu, cooked properly
So many people have bad beef with tofu (pun intended) and they just write it off as something to eat. If it's cooked properly and you have with them right food it's yummy, like any other food. I still mess up tofu but you learn to appreciate bad tofu for how good it could be and when it's yummy you're super happy. Cookie+Kate shows how to make some great crispy tofu!
3. Gardein mandarin orange chicken nuggets

When I was first considering taking meat out of my diet I had these. And I haven't stopped... They're best pan fried in olive or canola oil and you can put the sauce on if you want it to taste like Chinese chicken.
4. BBQ things as you would meat
The other night my dad and I grilled a yellow zucchini and some mushrooms. They were so good! I tossed them in some olive oil, salt and I rubbed them with a spicy dried pepper. Next time we grill food, not people (like roasting, haha?) I want to do cauliflower steaks, tomatoes and carrots!
5. Make banana peel pulled pork
Yep you read that right banana peel. The Stingy Vegan does a recipe on it and Merle from Buzzfeed did a video on it here. I watched Merle's video first and I wanted to make it. I don't know why but it turned out really good and I would actually make it again. The biggest take away from number 5 is don't think about all the meat you could be eating if you weren't a vegetarian think of all the amazing fruits vegetables and things that you can eat while living your life. I am on my second month and I just started not craving meat and wanting to highlight vegetables and love them for what they taste like.
I have been a vegetarian since January 1st, 2020 because our family went to a seafood store and they got a live lobster and 3 blue point crabs, live! I was traumatized by them putting it in a plastic back and closing it shut that whenever I thought of eating meat again I would see the chicken or cow being slaughtered. I know that people still consider eating vegetables to be killing a living thing but how am I suppose to nourish my body?
