Why I want to go vegan but I'm a vegetarian
This is my 4th day being vegan! I didn't really plan on it (well kind of) so i've just taking it day by day. On December 31st I went vegetarian not because it was almost the new year but because we got a live lobster and some crabs and cooked them at home. The whole way home I was crying because the lobster and the crabs were going to die because of me. If we hadn't purchased them, they wouldn't have died.

When you go to grocery stores and by chicken breast or ground beef it has already been killed so you don't feel as bad. What I thought was "Oh, might as well buy the ground beef because it's on sale, if I don't eat it who will and it's going to go bad!". So on the 31st my mom and dad had buttery crab legs and lobster and I had some Gardein chick'n nuggets. Now a disclaimer! I have been a vegetarian and pescatarian before but the longest time as been a a couple weeks. My meals when I was an omnivore were 1/3 vegetarian or almost (like the vegetables were fried in bacon fat). So the transition to going full time vegetarian wasn't as hard, I just had to switch a couple things out. I did that for 2 months and then... We went to Fresh Fest! It's a vegan festival. The reason we went was because one of the zero waste Facebook group that is close to us had a tent there! We went, it was good, they had all vegan vendors and I had a burger, lobster mac n' cheese, beef empanada and fish n chips. All vegan! Though they weren't as good as the animal based ones they were okay. I definitely couldn't see myself eating that food for the rest of my life. Then one day asked my dad if he wanted to do a vegan day with me, he said yes! He asked for all the nutritional value in the things he would be eating and I showed him. The only thing he had to eat that wasn't vegan was his protein drink. This has whey protein powder (so it is cow milk based). I started the vegan day and my dad did not. He had hot dogs and Cheetos, etc. He did try the meals that I had made and said that he really liked them and ate them later. I continued my vegan days for 4 days and then my parents said that I had to do more research.
I have done a lot of research on veganism for a teen. But they want it written down in one place so that they can see it. Even though giving them a bunch of links to articles about the things that are concerned about would be better so that they get more information. I shall write it down for them in one place.
I have made SO many things that I would have made with eggs, milk, butter, etc. Vegan! If my parents won't let me go vegan, I will still have 1 out of my 3 meals plant based. And really yummy vegan things like this
